HygienicWood Air-filter is at the 20th Innovation-day presented in Berlin
Scientists foresee great potential for the Hygienic Wood Air-filter also in the use with ships and airplanes
Research Project Air-filters made from Hygienic Wood – presentation at the 20th Innovation-day for small and medium-sized enterprises in Berlin
A research project supported by the Federal German Ministry of Economy and Technology (AiF Projekt) in cooperation with the “Deutsches Institut für Lebensmitteltechnik e.V.” (German institute for food technology) was brought to a successful conclusion. The aim of the project was to harness the already well-documented germ-reducing properties of Wilms Hygienic Wood for the filtration of air.
Air Filter Mats, Information Kit
The result of the research is a flexible filter mat made from fine pine heartwood chips which can easily be installed in the existing ventilation systems of residential buildings, hospitals, stables and mobile facilities such as can be found in shipping or aviation.
Removal of the test and check filters after conclusion of experiment
It was shown during an experiment lasting around 1000 hours and involving the filtration of waste air from pigsties that it is possible to produce filters from pine heartwood which - compared to a standard category F 8 fine filter - will decrease the discharge of germs by 28 times while at the same time itself being contaminated considerably less than standard fleece filters.
Also to be mentioned as an additional effect is the enriching of the air with the components of pine heartwood improving health and well-being.
In cooperation with the Hamburg based Noske-Kaeser Service GmbH & Co.KG we are planning to carry out an initial field test with the new filter mats on a cruise liner.
